Bob Marley

Bob Marley (1945 - 1981), legendary Godfather of Reggae, very often stood on the stage with red shoes. Responding to a colleague's advice to see a doctor and have him examine his bleeding big toe, he said: "Rasta does not allow for amputation. No human may be taken apart."

Marley died at the age of 36 from the brain metastases that had spread from the acral lentiginous melanoma of his big toe. A timely visit to a dermatologist would most likely have saved his life.
